The Buffalo Soldiers—an African American regiment in the United States Army in the 19th century—fought military conflicts abroad and civil rights struggles at home.

The one-hour documentary film, “Buffalo Soldiers: Fighting on Two Fronts,” directed by Dru Holley of Vancouver, Washington, examines the profound and often-contradictory roles played in American history by The Buffalo Soldiers. African-American history isn’t in a corner by itself; it’s part of the U.S. historical narrative, and this film tells that story in a compelling and accessible manner.

This documentary will be screened at Fort Walla Walla Museum along with other local screenings for a west-coast educational tour, prior to its presentation on public broadcasting television stations across the nation in celebration of Juneteenth. Director Dru Holley will be available for a Q&A session after the screening. This event is a fundraiser for the expansion of the Museum’s collections and exhibits related to the Buffalo Soldiers stationed here at Fort Walla Walla. There is no cost to attend, but we encourage a donation.
