It’s time once again for Fort Walla Walla Museum’s annual Ice Cream Social! This social gathering celebrates a time when the days passed at a slower pace and the local community came together to enjoy the lazy days of summer.

Join us for Baskin-Robbins ice cream and Klicker’s strawberry toppings—free with paid admission! There will be pioneer kids games, a Jumpin’ Jellybeans bouncy castle, and the Daughters of the Pioneers will open the pioneer cabin for guests to explore.

There will be a number of fantastic classic cars on display courtesy of the Walla Walla Historic Auto Club and Walla Walla Cruiser Club.

By popular demand the photo dress-up booth will be out so that visitors may borrow costumes and props, then strike a pose in front of the buildings in the Pioneer Village for photos.

Sue Scott will be on site with her loom giving a weaving demonstration. She will have several examples of the beautiful rugs, towels, and table runners she creates. She is a new consignee in the Museum Store; currently for sale are some table runners with designs that replicate a coverlet pattern from the 1800s, colorful woven dish towels. Her durable rag rugs use wefts made from everything from Pendleton Wool blanket trims to recycled blue jeans.

Judge William Langford will give a Living History performance at 2 pm. Born in Ohio in 1835 Langford later came to Oregon to study law. He was the last territorial justice of the Washington Territorial Supreme Court to serve in Walla Walla County, appointed by President Grover Cleveland on December 3, 1885.

The museum’s Heritage Fashion Runway will be updated with a mix of men’s and women’s fashions from times past. Of note will be a dress owned by Lucy Sanders Goodwin, the wife of Walla Walla’s first county physician and coroner, Lewis Heddie Goodwin.
